BCIT Marketing students awarded at the 2024 AMA International Collegiate Conference

Congratulations to all BCIT Marketing Management students who participated and finished in top places across multiple competition categories at the 2024 American Marketing Association (AMA) International Collegiate Conference in New Orleans.

The BCIT Marketing Association (BCITMA) was honored as one of the top 15 chapters in North America. Meanwhile, BCIT Marketing students Ryan Khorrami, Benjamin Kravchenko, Kin Nguyen, Jillian Currie, and Julie Chu, demonstrated their exceptional skills and placed in the top three of the case team category, competing against teams from prestigious American Ivy League universities.

This achievement is a testament to their hard work and the invaluable support and mentorship from BCIT Marketing Management Department faculty, including Professional Sales Program Head Bruce Anthony and BCITMA Faculty Advisor Erica Halvorsen, who travelled with the students to the competition.

"This is a great achievement for us. Other schools typically have case competitions taught by a professor, but in our case, it is a club run mainly by students, and I think that really says a lot about how BCIT has prepared us to handle any challenges." shares Case Lead Julie Chu.

According to Julie, the 2024 edition of AMA differed from the previous ones. In the past, teams would have to prepare presentations sponsored by companies such as the Wall Street Journal and Amazon. However, this year, the focus was on sustainability, a familiar topic for the students.

"It was an exciting challenge because our team has people who are super passionate about sustainability and in making a difference, so we were looking forward to tackling this challenge," says Julie.
