CNC Student Triumphs as Skilled Trades BC Gold Medalist

May 3, 2024

Annabelle La Londe, a student in Industrial Mechanic Foundation program, won the gold medal in the Skilled Trades BC competition, showing both her dedication and the quality of education at CNC.

Preparing for the competition demanded practice and guidance. Her training at CNC equipped her with the necessary skills and knowledge, underscoring the importance of hands-on experience and mentorship. "I had the support of my instructor, Ryan Rahie, he walked me through every step of the way, getting ready for the competition. He provided feedback on what I did right and areas for improvement, as well as the next steps for the next challenge. I had support from the tool crib guys as well, helping me get the tools I needed for extra training sessions."

Moreover, Annabelle underscores the presence of organizations like the BC Centre for Women in the Trades, which offer a range of services tailored to women in trades, including funding opportunities, resume building assistance, and job sourcing. These resources are vital for women seeking to enter or excel in the trades industry, providing them with the support and guidance needed to succeed.

Annabelle also highlights the support available within educational institutions like CNC, where programs like Foundations offer tailored support for students embarking on their trades career. With resources, mentorship, and community readily accessible, women in trades no longer need to feel isolated or unsupported.

Annabelle La Londe's success in the Skilled Trades BC competition is a testament to her dedication and the quality of education provided at CNC. Her journey exemplifies the potential for growth and achievement in the trades industry, inspiring others to pursue their passions and excel in their chosen field.

Congratulations to Annabelle on her remarkable accomplishment!
