VSB announces new associate superintendent

The Vancouver School District is pleased to announce that Alison Ogden has accepted the position of associate superintendent with the District.

Alison, who served as a director of instruction since January 2020, brings more than 20 years of experience with VSB. She began her career in education as a teacher in 1999, prior to becoming a vice principal at David Thompson and Windermere secondary schools and then principal at Sir Charles Tupper. Alison has an exceptional track record of leadership and a commitment to supporting schools. She is passionate about enhancing student learning and their well-being. She led the mental health team, laying the groundwork for a comprehensive approach to mental health literacy and promotion, in alignment with the provincial mental health strategy.

"Inclusion, equity, and reconciliation is at the heart of Alison's work," says Helen McGregor, superintendent. "She was integral to our ongoing implementation of the Indigenous focused graduation required courses as well as expanding the diversity of representation in learning resources."

Alison is known as a colleague who fosters a culture of curiosity, connectivity and collaboration. Her dedication to professional learning is evident in her commitment to continuous learning and the inclusion of diverse voices. Such dedication also advanced efforts of the BC Superintendents Association's  professional development committee to support the professional learning of colleagues across the province.

Alison will begin her new role with VSB October 3, 2023.
