The University of New Brunswick (UNB) is pleased to congratulate the 2025-26 recipients of the Sandra Irving Scholarships.
This year's Sandra Irving Scholars are Connor Stevens and Sierra McIntyre, both of Saint John.
The Sandra Irving Scholarship was established by Sandra Irving, a graduate of UNB's Saint John campus in political science, to help, encourage and inspire students. Valued at $10,000, the scholarship is awarded annually to upper-year students who are majoring in political science at UNB Saint John. Selection criteria include academic achievement, volunteer service and future career aspirations.
Since 1997, a total of 72 scholarships have been awarded to 59 deserving Sandra Irving Scholars.
Third-year student, Sierra McIntyre, looks forward to teaching elementary school after graduation, while remaining politically active in her community. "I love the political science program at UNB in Saint John because it is very tight-knit between professors and students," said McIntyre. "I am so grateful to receive this scholarship and further my education in political science."
Connor Stevens, also in his third year, currently serves as vice president external for UNB's students' representative council and as president of UNB's politics society. "I am grateful to be awarded the Sandra Irving Scholarship as this will help me continue my education and to help enhance the student experience at UNB's Saint John campus," Stevens said.
"We are very grateful to Dr. Irving for her ongoing support of our political science students. Few donors make as strong a commitment to mentoring our students and following them throughout their subsequent careers as she does," said Heidi MacDonald, dean of arts.
