LETHBRIDGE POLYTECHNIC
Lethbridge Polytechnic celebrates Pride with flag raising ceremony

June 17, 2026

A decade-long tradition continues at Lethbridge Polytechnic with employees, students, alumni and community members raising the Progressive Pride Flag in a show of support for the 2SLGBTQIA+ community.

"This tradition is a visible reminder that Lethbridge Polytechnic is a place of belonging for all," says Dr. Brad Donaldson, president and CEO of Lethbridge Polytechnic. "Our institution is committed to a campus culture where every person is seen and valued. Today is an opportunity to honour that commitment and continue that work."

The polytechnic first flew the Pride Flag in 2015. Since 2021, it has raised the Progressive Pride Flag to highlight the inclusion of trans people, marginalized people of colour in the 2SLGBTQIA+ community and those affected by HIV/AIDS.

"Our Pride Flag raising event is one I look forward to every year because it serves as an opportunity to be both an ally and member of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community," says Adrianna Smith, student development co-ordinator, Student Experience. "It's also a chance for us to show the power of speech, allyship and collaboration to advocate for positive change where people are free to be their most authentic selves."

Lethbridge Polytechnic will also participate in the Lethbridge Pride Parade on June 20. Polytechnic volunteers will make their way along the parade route from Civic Centre Park to Galt Gardens where the 18th annual Pride in the Park will take place.
