The Kenora Catholic District School Board (KCDSB) is pleased to announce the appointment of Kylie Hughes as the new Superintendent of Education, effective July 1, 2025. This appointment follows the selection of Jamey Robertson as the Board's next Director of Education.

Kylie Hughes has been a dedicated member of the KCDSB community since August 29, 2006. Over the past 19 years, she has served in a variety of leadership roles, including Teacher, Guidance Counsellor, Vice Principal, and, most recently, Principal of St. Thomas Aquinas High School since 2021. Throughout her career, Kylie has demonstrated a strong commitment to Catholic education, student success, and fostering a deep sense of belonging within every school community she has served.
"Kylie Hughes brings a proven commitment to Catholic education and a genuine passion for helping every student and staff member reach their fullest potential," says Nicole Kurtz, Director of Education. "Her faith-filled leadership, respect for the dignity of each person, and dedication to building welcoming and supportive learning environments make her an excellent leader for this role. We are blessed to have her continue her journey as Superintendent of Education, and I am looking forward to witnessing the impact her leadership, faith, and vision will have across our schools and communities.
In her new role, Kylie will oversee system-level portfolios, provide leadership to KCDSB schools, and work closely with staff, students, and families to support faith formation, student achievement, and well-being. She will also play a key role in advancing pathways for First Nation, Métis, and Inuit (FNMI) students, promoting equity, inclusion, and success for all learners across the Board.
Reflecting on her appointment, Kylie shared,
"I am truly honoured to be selected as Superintendent of Education with the Kenora Catholic District School Board. I look forward to working closely with our Principals, system staff, Leaders, and with Jamey Robertson in his new role as Director of Education, as we continue to build welcoming, faith-filled school communities where every student feels a true sense of belonging and purpose. It's a privilege to walk alongside our students, families, and staff, working together to help every student grow in confidence, faith, and achievement."
The Kenora Catholic District School Board congratulates Kylie Hughes on her new role and looks forward to the leadership, care, and vision she will continue to bring to our schools, staff, students, and families.
