May 20, 2025

A new leader will soon be at the forefront of efforts to bring the world to Brock and Brock to the world.

The University has appointed David Begg as its new Associate Vice-President, International, effective June 2.

With more than two decades of leadership experience in international education, Begg has a proven track record of advancing global partnerships, international enrolment and intercultural engagement.

In his previous role as Associate Vice-President, Global Partnerships and Education at George Brown College, he led a team focused on enhancing international student success and global collaboration.

Under his leadership, George Brown developed a comprehensive global engagement plan, expanded its international footprint and implemented a more integrated and evidence-informed approach to global strategy development.

Begg has also held senior roles at Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU), where he played a foundational role in creating the institution's first international strategy, developing the TMU English Language Institute and fostering international mobility and partnership initiatives.

"Brock's purpose-driven International strategic plan truly resonated with me, especially its commitment to empowering students, faculty and staff to become agents of global change," Begg said. "I'm excited to join such a dynamic university community and to work collaboratively in expanding Brock's international presence and impact."

Begg will help guide Brock's internationalization efforts, leading a team dedicated to attracting and supporting international students, fostering global research collaborations and strengthening international partnerships.

"David brings to Brock deep expertise and a clear passion for inclusive global engagement," said Arja Vainio-Mattila, Brock's Provost and Vice-President, Academic. "I am thrilled to have him join our team. His experience and approach will be instrumental in furthering our international strategy and creating enriching opportunities for our students, researchers and partners around the world."
