St. Lawrence College (SLC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Lindsay Brant as Director, Indigenous Initiatives. Dr. Brant began in her new role to strengthen SLC's commitment to Indigenous Ways of Knowing and Being on August 18, 2025.

Dr. Brant brings extensive expertise in Indigenous education and curriculum development and most recently served as Associate Director, Indigenous Curriculum Development at Queen's University Health Sciences, as well as teaching in its Master of Health Professions Education program. Brant also recently co-created the acclaimed course, "Relationships and Reconciliation in Business and Beyond" with the Smith School of Business.
"Dr. Brant's commitment to Indigenous education and her contributions to learning and education make her ideal for this important role," said Glenn Vollebregt, SLC President and CEO. "We look forward to her leadership and to working together to support our ongoing commitment to fostering Indigenous Ways of Knowing and Being in our curriculum, classrooms, and community within our college and beyond."
Dr. Brant holds a Ph.D. in Cultural Studies from Queen's University, focusing on applying Haudenosaunee Great Law of Peace principles to teaching and learning. Her research examines how Indigenous ways of knowing facilitate peaceful relationship building in academic settings.
"I'm thrilled to bring my passion for higher education and knowledge sharing to St. Lawrence College," Dr. Brant said. "I am particularly focused on place-based, experiential learning, Indigenous critical pedagogy, and Indigenous ways of knowing and learning. I love capacity building, strengthening communities and building networks through my intuitive, grounded, and connected leadership style."
Dr. Brant's achievements also include the Educational Leadership Award (2021), the Aspen Institute's Ideas Worth Teaching Award (2021), and the Canadian Association of Medical Education's Certificate of Merit Award (2024). She holds specialized training in conflict resolution, restorative practices, and trauma-informed care.
