Administrative Appointment for Entwistle School

Parkland School Division (PSD) is pleased to announce the appointment of Ms. Tammie Sarauer as the new Principal of Entwistle School, effective immediately. Ms. Sarauer transitions into the permanent role after successfully serving as the school's Acting Principal since late March. She succeeds former Principal Dean Bernard, who is moving on to explore other opportunities outside of PSD. The division extends its sincere gratitude to Mr. Bernard for his dedication and leadership, and wishes him the very best in his future endeavors.

"Tammie's proven leadership track record makes her the ideal person to guide Entwistle School into a very bright future," said Superintendent Mark Francis.

"There is an incredible energy at the school right now as we introduce forward-thinking programming, including the new Nature Hub and specialized Shared Responsibility options tailored for local families. Our goal is to ensure Entwistle School remains the absolute best choice for education for families a vibrant, connected, and tight-knit community where local students can truly thrive."


Tammie Sarauer, Principal, Entwistle School (Gr. K-9)

Ms. Sarauer brings a wealth of diverse experience to Entwistle School, marking an 18-year career dedicated to student success within PSD. Prior to joining the Entwistle School community in late March as Acting Principal, she served the Duffield School community as Assistant Principal from September 2025 to March 2026. Ms. Sarauer's first formal assignment as a Principal came at Athabasca Delta Community School (ADCS) in Fort Chipewyan during the 2024-2025 school year.

Throughout her journey with the division, Ms. Sarauer has served students and staff in a wide variety of roles. Prior to joining ADCS, Tammie served students and staff as an Early Education Facilitator in PSD's Early Childhood Services department. The majority of her time was at Connections for Learning in various roles including Home Education Director as well as the Lead Teacher with the Stony Creek Program overseeing the home school component for Grades 1 - 6.

She has also served students in many diverse roles including Inclusive Education Lead, acting admin, and program lead. She also has experience with many of PSD's most diverse learning needs programs.  Ms. Sarauer has been a Facilitator for High School options and before her full-time teaching career began, she was a substitute teacher in PSD as well as an Educational Assistant at École Broxton Park School.

Ms. Sarauer earned her Bachelor of Education as an Elementary Generalist minoring in Psychology from the University of Alberta in 2002. She earned a Masters of Education from the University of Calgary in 2022 as well as a School Leadership Certificate also from the U of C.

"Stepping into the Entwistle School community as Acting Principal this past March has already been an absolute privilege. I am thrilled to officially take on the permanent Principal role and look forward to continuing our collaborative work to support the growth, success, and well-being of all our students and families. I am incredibly grateful for my time at Duffield School and want to thank the amazing staff, students, and families for welcoming me so warmly during my time there."
