The Fort McMurray Public School Division (FMPSD) is proud to announce that Dr. David Hurley has been appointed as the new Principal of Fort McMurray Composite High School. A dedicated educator with a strong background in educational leadership and student wellness, David brings a wealth of experience and a deep, personal connection to the Composite High School community to his new role.

David's educational journey began with a Bachelor of Physical Education, followed by a Bachelor of Education, a Master of Education, and a Doctor of Education in K-12 Educational Leadership. He began his career with FMPSD at Walter & Gladys Hill Public School as a Physical Education Teacher and APPLE Schools Health Facilitator, where he developed a strong foundation in supporting student health and active living.
Expanding his experience across the Division, David served as the Educational Technology Coordinator at the Division Office before moving into school administration. He took on leadership roles as Vice Principal at the Fort McMurray Islamic School and later as Vice Principal and PEAK Director at École McTavish. Most recently, David has served as the Principal of Greely Road School, where he has contributed significantly to the school's ongoing growth and success.
Reflecting on his new role, David shared: "I am beyond thrilled to be heading to Comp to work with their high-performing team and to continue doing great things for the students and school community. As a graduate of Composite High School, this appointment is incredibly meaningful to me professionally and personally."
