The Fort McMurray Public School Division (FMPSD) is delighted to announce that Craig Upper has been appointed as the new Principal of the Wood Buffalo Athletic Academy (WBAA). A dedicated educator with a strong background in physical education and school leadership, Craig brings a wealth of experience and a passion for student success to his new role.

Craig's educational journey began with a Bachelor of Arts in Physical Education from Brock University, followed by a Bachelor of Education with a Physical Education teachable from the University of Windsor, and a Master of Education in Educational Leadership from Brandon University. He started his career with FMPSD in 2010, taking on various teaching roles where he developed a strong foundation in supporting student development and athletic programming.
Expanding his leadership experience, Craig served as Vice Principal at Westview Public School from 2016 to 2019, and later as Vice Principal at Westwood Community High School from 2019 to 2021. Most recently, he has served as the Principal of Fort McMurray Composite High School since 2023, where he has spent the past several years contributing to the school's pride, spirit, and ongoing success.
Reflecting on his new role, Craig shared: "Serving as Principal of Fort McMurray Composite High School has been one of the greatest privileges of my career. The people, the pride, and the spirit of this school will always stay with me. As I look ahead to new beginnings at the Wood Buffalo Athletic Academy, I carry those experiences forward with gratitude and excitement for what's to come."
