LAKELAND COLLEGE
Feast on the Farm celebrates student success

August 31, 2026

Community spirit, connection and student success came together under the prairie sky as Lakeland College's sold-out 2026 Feast on the Farm, presented by Cenovus Energy, raised $96,000 in support of student-led learning.

Held on the Vermilion campus farm on Aug. 13, the ninth annual event brought together alumni, industry partners, donors, community members and friends of the college for an evening of great food, live entertainment from Cole Martin, dancing and conversation. But at the heart of the event was a shared commitment to supporting students and the hands-on, immersive experiences that are an integral part of Lakeland's award-winning education.

"Feast on the Farm is a wonderful celebration of what becomes possible when a community invests in its students. This incredible support helps Lakeland students turn their ideas and ambitions into action, whether they are growing food for their community, showcasing their creativity and skills, or representing Canada on the world stage," says Dr. Alice Wainwright Stewart, president and CEO of Lakeland. "We are truly grateful for the tremendous support from Feast on the Farm - thank you for believing in the potential of our students."

The evening was emceed by Lakeland alumni, bringing an added connection to the college experience and the generations of students who have learned by doing at Lakeland. A student panel also took to the stage to share firsthand how immersive, student-led experiences have shaped their education, strengthened their skills and created opportunities beyond the classroom.

From leading projects and organizing events to competing, conducting research and learning in the field, student-led experiences are woven throughout the Lakeland experience. Feast on the Farm helps ensure those opportunities continue to grow with support from Cenovus Energy, the presenting sponsor, as well as champion and scholar sponsors.

More than 50 student-led projects have been supported by Feast on the Farm with more than $526,000 raised by this event since its inception in 2016.
