Twenty-five years of memories, inspiration and community pride took flight on October 3 as Captain Michael VandenBos Public School celebrated its 25th anniversary with a special gathering of students, staff, alumni, families and community members, culminating in a meaningful gift from the VandenBos family: Captain Michael VandenBos's uniforms from his service with the Canadian Forces Snowbirds.

The uniforms will be proudly displayed at the school, preserving a tangible piece of history and inspiring future generations of students to embrace their potential and find their own way to "fly".
The school welcomed its original principal to reflect on opening the school and the significance of honouring Captain Michael VandenBos through its name. Students took centre stage throughout the celebration, sharing heartfelt speeches about what it means to represent his legacy and showcasing their talents through Bollywood and hip-hop dance performances.
Current Principal Kristin Ferron expressed gratitude for the generations of students, staff, families and community members who have shaped the school over the past quarter-century.
"Celebrating 25 years is an incredible milestone. Our school is more than a place of learning; it is a community built on connection, belonging and the belief that every student has the potential to soar. It is an honour to lead such an inspiring school community, and we are deeply grateful to everyone who has helped make it what it is today."
The celebration continued outdoors with a community barbecue, face painting, cotton candy and family activities, while a collection of memorabilia offered a nostalgic look back at 25 years of school history.

The anniversary was both a celebration of the school's past and a tribute to the people who continue to shape its future. The school extends heartfelt thanks to the VandenBos family for their extraordinary generosity and to every student, staff member, family, alumnus and community member who has contributed to its story.
