Painting Our Story Together at Franklin Public School

June 29, 2026

In the entrance of Franklin Public School, a new story is taking shape, one that is painted in colour, meaning, and represents a shared vision for the school community. Thanks to the support of the parent council, Indigenous artist Alanah Jewell, Bear Clan from Oneida Nation of the Thames, has been invited to create a mural that reflects the school community and the land we share.

Students, educators, and families all contributed ideas, sharing the living things they cherish and the colours that best represent the spirit at Franklin. At its centre will be the Franklin Falcon, a symbol of pride and unity.

This mural will welcome all who enter Franklin Public School, standing as a reflection of the school's collective identity and a celebration of culture and community. It reflects Franklin's commitment to Walking Together, where students, families, and staff are learning and building community through relationships, respect, and shared understanding. The piece will serve as a powerful representation of this journey, bringing together the voices of students, families, educators, community partners, and the land we share, symbolizing the collective path we are taking together.
