Algoma University proudly marked a milestone moment on June 13 with a special recognition event celebrating the naming of the Cameron Faculty of Science. The event welcomed members of the Cameron family, who travelled to Sault Ste. Marie to be honoured for their generous support. "My father, Dr. J. MacBain Cameron, was a man of quiet strength, deep integrity, and unwavering dedication to both science and education," shared Peter Cameron. "Bain, as he was fondly known to many, never sought recognition, but I know he would be profoundly honoured by this meaningful tribute. To have the Faculty of Science at Algoma University bear his name is a profoundly meaningful tribute - not only to his pioneering work as an entomologist, but also to his role in shaping the early vision of this institution. He believed deeply in the power of education to transform lives and in building strong, resilient communities through knowledge and discovery. This recognition affirms the values he held dear and ensures his legacy will continue to inspire generations of students for years to come.
