This collaborative event highlights the creativity, technical expertise, and problem-solving skills of students across disciplines as they prepare for careers in industry. Students will present their innovative capstone projects to potential employers, students, faculty and community members. Attendees can explore project demonstrations and speak directly with students about the technologies and development processes behind their work.
The Capstone Symposium will take place on Friday, Aug. 14, 2026. Mechanical Engineering students present their projects from 10am-2pm at the Centre for Trades Education and Innovation (CTEI) on Camosun's Interurban campus and the Interactive Media Developer & Information and Computer Systems students present their projects from 1-5pm at the Sherri Bell Hall on Camosun's Lansdowne campus. The event promises a day of discovery and dialogue. Students will present their projects, engage with guest speakers, and demonstrate their problem-solving skills.
"This year's graduating cohorts have excelled at transforming creative ideas into polished technical solutions," says Benjamin Leather, Instructor, Computer Science department at Camosun College. "These graduates are a tremendous asset to the tech industry."
Mechanical Engineering Technology Projects
33 graduating students from Camosun College's Mechanical Engineering Technology are showcasing practical solutions for industry and community partners. Projects include a renewable energy system designed to generate electrical power from water flow while under sail, a system that converts captured carbon dioxide into sidewalk chalk, automated equipment to remove debris from seedling trays, a self-cleaning lake water intake system, a smart marine buoy for environmental monitoring, hangboard manufacturing automation, a DIY small-scale solar power system for homes and businesses, and a modular reverse osmosis water treatment system.
Interactive Media Developer & Information and Computer Systems projects
57 graduating students from Camosun College's Interactive Media Developer (IMD) and Information and Computer Systems (ICS) programs are showcasing innovative digital solutions for industry, education, and entertainment. Projects include custom software applications, original games, augmented reality experiences, business solutions, training simulations, and interactive media developed entirely by student teams.
