NIAGARA CATHOLIC DISTRICT SCHOOL BOARD
Niagara Catholic Partners with Public Health

April 29, 2026

The Niagara Catholic District School Board has collaborated with Niagara Region Public Health for many years, supporting the well-being of students in our schools and a healthier Niagara overall. Now, the collaboration is official, following the official signing a five-year Declaration of Commitment with Niagara Region Public Health.

The joint signing, which included representation from Public Health and all four publicly funded school boards in Niagara, took place at Niagara Regional Headquarters April 23.

Niagara Catholic's Director of Education Camillo Cipriano noted the many years of collaboration between the school board and Public Health.

"The Niagara Catholic District School Board has enjoyed a long-standing relationship with Niagara Region Public Health for many years," said Director Cipriano. "We have relied on their expertise for many public health matters, from vaccinations and infectious disease control to issues like extreme heat and cold, vaping, and healthy lifestyles. Today's Declaration of Commitment Signing formalizes this excellent partnership, making our schools and our communities healthier, safer places for everyone." Niagara Regional Medical Officer of Health and Commissioner Dr. Azim Kasmani spoke about the benefits of the partnership to students and the community. "Supporting youth is foundational to building healthy communities," he said. "We are grateful to share this commitment with the Niagara school boards and admire the dedication they show to students every day. Our ongoing partnerships allow us to collaborate and support this work through public health resources, and we look forward to continuing this important journey together."
