LOYALIST COLLEGE
Loyalist College launches new Strategic Plan 2030

August 11, 2025

Loyalist College has officially launched its new Strategic Plan 2030, a bold and future-focused vision that reflects the college's essential role as a driver of innovation, growth and opportunity in Eastern Ontario.

Development of the plan began in early 2024, with Loyalist conducting focus groups and surveys with students, faculty, staff, alumni, and industry and community partners to gather diverse perspectives to shape the college's direction. Informed by insights from the Board of Governors and a broad network of stakeholders, the resulting five-year roadmap represents the shared values and ambitions of the Loyalist community, outlining a mission to empower learners through responsive, accessible education, applied research and strategic partnerships that drive social advancement.

President and CEO Mark Kirkpatrick describes the Strategic Plan 2030 as a forward-looking response to the evolving needs of students, as well as municipalities, employers and community services across the region.

"This plan provides us with a strong foundation, anchored in a collective understanding of who we are and our unique role in our region," said President Kirkpatrick. "We know the communities we serve rely on Loyalist as a source of opportunity, economic mobility, leadership and expertise. Our Strategic Plan reinforces our commitment to supporting workforce development, access to education and applied research and innovation in Belleville, Tyendinaga, Bancroft, Port Hope and beyond."

Loyalist's Strategic Plan 2030 is organized around three pillars:

  • Nurturing Talent and Potential
  • Advancing Innovative and Flexible Learning and Applied Research
  • Strengthening Connections and Impact

"The three pillars offer a clear framework for action as the Loyalist community continues to advance its priorities, adapt to change and respond to new opportunities," said Julie Lange, Chair of the Loyalist College Board of Governors. "The Board of Governors is proud to support Loyalist as it enters this next chapter and begins to implement the vision outlined in the Strategic Plan."

The plan also identifies three guiding mindsets that will inform the college's approach to challenges, decision-making and long-term strategy: Truth and Reconciliation, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion, and Sustainability. These mindsets will influence actions and culture across all areas of work and life at Loyalist.

"As we move forward, our work will continue to be defined by our institutional values and shaped by the people who bring those values to life," adds President Kirkpatrick. "Inspired by the ingenuity and dedication we see in our students, employees and partners every day, we look forward to putting it into action over the next five years."
