Congratulations to the Eston Composite School Senior Boys Basketball Team who have been awarded a Saskatchewan High School Athletics Association (SHSAA) SaskMilk Sportsmanship Banner.
The Eston Senior Boys Basketball Team had an outstanding season, finishing with a record of 16 wins and only three losses. One of the biggest highlights was earning a trip to Hoopla for the first time in over 20 years and bringing home a bronze banner. Throughout the season, the team demonstrated excellent teamwork and represented Eston with pride and dignity both on and off the court.
The SaskMilk Sportsmanship Banner was awarded to the team because of the respect and character shown by every player. The team was consistently friendly, courteous, and respectful toward officials, opponents, and coaches. Coach Kyle Wehage and Manager Rebecca James are incredibly proud of everything the boys accomplished this season and are especially grateful for the outstanding sportsmanship and respect they displayed from start to finish.
"What makes this award especially meaningful is that it recognizes character rather than performance. While the boys enjoyed tremendous success on the court, they never lost sight of the values of respect, integrity, and teamwork," stated Coach Wehage. "Whether celebrating a win or handling a loss, they conducted themselves with class and represented Eston Composite School, their families, and their community in a way that made everyone proud. This banner is a reflection of the kind of young men they are and the positive example they set for others," he concluded.
