West Central Service Awards Celebrate Dedication to School Sport

The West Central District Athletic Association has recognized eight outstanding teachers, volunteers, and community coaches with Service Awards for their contributions to school athletics during the 2025-26 school year. These individuals have devoted countless hours to coaching, organizing events, supporting athletes, and strengthening school sports programs in their schools and across West Central.

Tatum Schneider of Kyle Composite School, dedication to school athletics goes far beyond coaching. For many years, she has organized officials for volleyball games, including scorekeepers, lines people, and referees. She also coaches curling and track and field, helps coordinate equipment purchases, and recruits community coaches before the school year begins. Even while on maternity leave, Tatum continued supporting student-athletes and school teams whenever possible. Her commitment has made her an essential part of the school's athletic program.

Also from Kyle, Keisha Lewis (nee Padayachee), has demonstrated exceptional commitment to student-athletes through her leadership of junior and senior golf and badminton programs, as well as her work with track and field. She also plays a key role in managing the financial side of school athletics through her involvement with the Student Leadership Council. Beyond her school responsibilities, Keisha serves on the Saskatchewan High School Athletic Association (SHSAA) Golf Sport Advisory Committee and has supported provincial golf championships for the past five years. Her dedication, leadership, and enthusiasm have benefited athletes at every level.

West Central recognized Natalie Sullivan of Westcliffe Composite School in Marengo. As a parent volunteer and community coach, Natalie contributes in many ways, from coaching volleyball to running canteens and supporting school activities. Her willingness to volunteer her time has strengthened athletics at Westcliffe Composite School.

At Rosetown Central High School, three recipients were honoured for their service. Community coach Trinity Grant has spent the past two years supporting the school's basketball program and became head coach of the senior girls basketball team this season. A former post-secondary basketball player, Trinity brings valuable experience to the court while serving as a positive role model. Her emphasis on character, sportsmanship, and leadership has had a lasting impact on student-athletes.

Teacher-coach Amy Flynn has led the senior B girls volleyball team for the past two years and has also coached junior badminton and track and field. Her experience and enthusiasm have provided important opportunities for student-athletes to develop their skills and confidence.

Fellow Rosetown coach Liz MacDonald has guided the senior A girls volleyball team for the past two seasons. Beyond coaching, she is known for volunteering at other athletic events, helping with scorekeeping, operating booths, and assisting wherever needed. Her willingness to support school sport in many capacities has made her a valued member of the athletic community.

At Kindersley Composite School, Angy Johnson was recognized for nearly two decades of extraordinary service. Throughout her time at the school, Angy has coached, managed teams, officiated events, and coordinated officials across multiple sports. Her work has strengthened volleyball, basketball, and track and field programs, while her passion for athletics has inspired generations of student-athletes. Angy is known for encouraging young people to pursue opportunities through sport and for serving as a positive role model through her own commitment to fitness and healthy living.

The contribution of community volunteer Lori Beattie at Dinsmore Composite School was also recognized. Lori organizes and manages a wide range of sports, including volleyball, curling, and badminton. She works tirelessly to ensure students have opportunities to participate, regardless of their skill level, and is known for creating a welcoming and encouraging environment for young athletes.

The West Central Service Awards highlight the importance of the volunteers, teachers, and community coaches who make school sport possible. Through their leadership, encouragement, and countless hours of service, these recipients have created meaningful opportunities for students to learn, compete, and grow both on and off the field of play.
