John Abbott College is proud to announce the awarding of the prestigious Mobilize Grant from the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC). This major institutional grant totaling $2,337,813 over five years will provide crucial, long-term support for applied research initiatives. A portion of the funding, $60,000 annually, is specifically allocated to support student researchers, enriching their academic experience and strengthening their readiness for careers in the pharmaceutical industry and beyond.
Secured in partnership with CERASP (Centre for the Commercialization of Research and Pharmaceutical Sciences) [https://cerasp.ca/], a recognized CCTT (College Centre for the Transfer of Technologies), this investment marks a significant step forward in fostering collaborative, impactful research.
The announcement was formally recognized during the Research & Innovation Celebration Event held on March 25th in the College Library. The gathering brought together key stakeholders, including student recipients, faculty, and administrative leaders, to acknowledge this milestone and to celebrate the shared commitment to innovation, excellence, and student success.
This funding will greatly enhance the institution's research capacity, enabling increased engagement from both faculty and students in applied projects with real-world relevance. It will also support the expansion of partnerships and extend the College's reach into new communities and sectors.
