NWP has officially entered into an agreement with VIA University College in Denmark, paving the way for innovative collaborations in international education. The partnership will explore opportunities such as student and faculty exchanges, internships, joint research projects, study abroad programs, and other initiatives to expand global learning experiences.
"International partnerships like this not only enhance the student experience but also strengthen NWP's role in fostering global connections right here in our community," said Dr. Vanessa Sheane, President and CEO of Northwestern Polytechnic. "It's about preparing our students to thrive in a connected world while bringing global insight back to Grande Prairie."
As part of the collaboration, NWP is set to welcome Danish students to Grande Prairie in January, where they will complete their teaching practicums with local schools. This hands-on initiative highlights the value of cross-cultural exchange, enriching the teaching and learning environment on both sides.
NWP representatives met in person with VIA's Executive Senior Adviser, Strategic Global Partnerships and Alliances, Tina Lisberg Bundgaard, during the EAIE Conference in mid-September to celebrate this milestone, and the formalized Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed in October.
The collaboration with VIA University College reflects NWP's commitment to building meaningful, mutually beneficial relationships that expand opportunities for students, faculty, and the region.
"This partnership with VIA University College is an exciting step forward for Northwestern Polytechnic," says Dr. Jodi Schultz, Vice President Academic. "By creating pathways for student and faculty mobility, joint research, and international teaching experiences, we are enriching our academic community and broadening perspectives for everyone involved."
"We are delighted to have formed a partnership with NWP that builds on our institutional strengths and provides NWP and VIA students with opportunities to acquire international competencies in a global context within the professions they study to serve. This collaboration will enrich our academic programs and research centers with inspiration and innovation through mutual knowledge sharing. We warmly welcome NWP to our list of valued global partners."
