Thanks to a $133,000 investment from the Province of Manitoba's Apprenticeship Training Equipment grant, the college is upgrading some key pieces of equipment in our automotive shop, including a wheel alignment machine, wheel balancer, tire changer, and a 4-post vehicle lift.

"This investment helps ensure that students at Assiniboine are training on the same tools and technologies they'll encounter in industry," said Mark Frison, President of Assiniboine College. "We're grateful for the province's support as we continue to strengthen hands-on learning opportunities and prepare skilled workers for automotive industries across Manitoba."
The one-time grant was made possible through the Manitoba Government's Manitoba Business, Mining, Trade & Job Creation sector, and provides Manitoba technical training colleges and apprentices access to industry-standard equipment, with a goal to attract youth, improve skills, and elevate apprenticeship training in the province.
The equipment will directly support pre-employment and apprenticeship students at Assiniboine and will help provide more hands-on practical training and skill development for students graduating from both streams of programming.
"With employer expectations evolving so quickly, these upgrades make a meaningful difference in the learning experience," said Kelly Hiscock, Academic Chair of Trades at Assiniboine. "Our students are gaining confidence and competence on equipment they'll use the moment they enter the workforce. That's essential for their success and for supporting the automotive sector across the province."
