The Class of 2025 has earned $11,103,410 in scholarships and counting, beating last year's total - which smashed recent records - by more than $300,000.
From modest to major awards, every scholarship helps students as they pursue their post-secondary aspirations.
Many graduates are celebrating standout achievements, including the following.
Burnaby South Secondary's Julia Wu will attend Harvard University during the next academic year on a full scholarship. Julia will study molecular and cellular biology on her path to becoming a surgeon. Bruce Zhong from Burnaby North Secondary will also attend an Ivy League university on a full scholarship. Bruce plans to focus on international and public affairs at Brown University on his path to a career in law.
Many graduates earned athletic scholarships, including full rides, at post-secondary institutions. Golfer Luna Lu, who graduated from Burnaby North Secondary, is one of several examples. Her combination of skills and achievements were a hole-in-one, securing her a full athletic scholarship to Princeton University where she will study psychology. Burnaby Central Secondary's Keira Martin will play soccer for Santa Clara University after earning a full athletic scholarship there. She plans to study communications with a minor in journalism and media. Keira was part of the Girls Elite soccer academy, which is put on in partnership with Vancouver Whitecaps FC, and is one of many sports academies and Programs of Choice offered at the District.
Twenty-three students from the Class of 2025 across all eight high schools were awarded Beedie Luminaries scholarships of up to $44,000 each for their undergraduate studies. Scroll down to see the recipients.
