Evanston Heights is the name of the new Calgary Board of Education middle school under construction in the northwest community of Evanston. The Board of Trustees approved the name on Aug. 25, 2025.
The Board of Trustees selected Evanston Heights after gathering input through a school name recommendation committee and a community survey. The committee is comprised of CBE Trustees, parents and/or community representatives and members of CBE administration.
The name Evanston Heights was one of the name recommendations put forward by the committee. It reflects the main themes from the feedback gathered, including the importance of including the community's name in the school's name. The word "heights" reflects the community's desire for every student to reach their full potential, as well as the fact that the school is built on a hill.
Once construction is completed, Evanston Heights School will offer programming for 900 students in middle school (typically grades 5-9). The final grade configuration and opening date have yet to be finalized. The school will serve students living in the community of Evanston.
