Northern Lights Public Schools is pleased to announce that Miranda Fraser Goertzen has been appointed Assistant Principal of Cold Lake Elementary School (CLES) for the 2026-2027 school year.

"Throughout her career with NLPS, Miranda has shown a strong commitment to collaboration and relationship building as an essential component of fostering a positive and caring school culture and enhancing learning for students," said Superintendent Rick Cusson. "Her focus on continuous improvement is evident in the leadership she had demonstrated in instruction, curriculum implementation, and professional development."
Goertzen has been the Student Support Team (SST) Coordinator at Nelson Heights School in Cold Lake for the last two years. She began her career as a teacher with NLPS at Duclos School in Bonnyville, where she spent five years before moving on to Nelson Heights School in Cold Lake. During her time at Nelson Heights she has experience in a variety of different roles including Literacy Specialist and Lead Language Arts Teacher for Grade 5 and 6, and Grade 6 Math Specialist.
"I am thrilled to begin a new adventure at Cold Lake Elementary, a place where dedicated staff and wonderful families work together to support the well-being of every student," said Goertzen. "I am ready to give this school my heart and look forward to building on their strong foundation alongside the amazing students who call the school home!"
