FMPSD Appoints Dr. Souhail Soujah as New Director of Teaching & Learning

The Fort McMurray Public School Division (FMPSD) is proud to announce that Dr. Souhail Soujah has been appointed as the new Director of Teaching & Learning. A dedicated educator with a strong background in classroom instruction and cross-jurisdictional leadership, Dr. Soujah brings a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to grassroots education to his new role.

Dr. Soujah's educational journey includes a Bachelor of Science from the University of Toronto, followed by a Bachelor of Education from the University of Regina, a Master of Educational Technology from the University of Southern Queensland, and a Doctorate in Education from the University of Nebraska. He started his career as an Educational Assistant before transitioning into a long and rewarding tenure as a Biology teacher in Golden, BC.

Expanding his leadership experience, Dr. Soujah embarked on an equally gratifying path as an administrator across British Columbia, the Northwest Territories, Manitoba, and the Yukon. Having been part of many jurisdictions with different visions and aspirations, this journey gave him a comprehensive understanding of the national educational horizon and the commonality of the challenges educators face. Serving as a senior administrator in the Yukon and NWT, he developed a core philosophy: while our titles may change, at the core of our identity, we are and always will be teachers, approaching the world with that perspective.

Reflecting on his new role, Dr. Soujah shared: "I'm proud to be part of a progressive and forward-thinking organization that puts the needs of our students and families above all else. In the current climate of uncertainty, it is validating to know that Fort McMurray Public Schools continues to stand for the right values and strives to meet the needs of the community."
