Cathedral High School proudly celebrated Anna Ngo, a Grade 9 student, who was named the winner of the 2026 Skills Ontario Medal Design Contest. Her achievement brought great pride to the school community and highlighted the creativity and talent of Cathedral students.

"Her design not only reflects exceptional creativity and technical skill, but also captures the spirit of innovation and excellence that we strive to nurture in all our students. To see her work recognized at the provincial level and shared across Ontario is truly inspiring."
Skills Ontario is a provincial organization that promotes careers in skilled trades and technologies. Each year, it hosts the Skills Ontario Competition, the largest event of its kind in Canada, bringing together thousands of students to compete, explore careers, and showcase their talents. As part of this event, students from across Ontario are invited to take part in the annual Medal Design Contest.
The contest challenged students from any program or background to create an original medal design that would represent excellence in skilled trades. Entries were required to follow professional specifications, including a bilingual format and specific design elements, with the winning concept selected from submissions across the province.
Anna's design was chosen as the winning entry and became the official concept for the 2026 Skills Ontario Competition medal. Her artwork was reproduced thousands of times and awarded to top competitors across more than 75 skilled trade and technology contests, leaving a lasting mark on the provincial competition.
In recognition of her success, Anna received a $500 cash prize, provincial recognition, and a framed version of her medal. Her design was also featured through Skills Ontario promotions and materials.
