HPCDSB Students Demonstrate Success on Provincial Assessments

The Board expresses its pride in our on-going focus on student achievement that continues to be reflected in these results. The Board continues to have one of the highest participation rates in the Province.

The students in the Primary Division of Huron-Perth Catholic exceeded the provincial results in Reading, Writing, and Mathematics.

  • 85% of the students in the Primary Division achieved Level 3 or 4 in Reading compared to the provincial average of 75%.
  • 78% of the students in the Primary Division achieved Level 3 or 4 in Writing compared to the provincial average of 67%.
  • 78% of the students in the Primary Division achieved Level 3 or 4 in Mathematics compared to the provincial average of 65%.

The students in the Junior Division of Huron-Perth Catholic exceeded the provincial results in Reading, Writing, and Mathematics.

  • 89% of the students in the Junior Division achieved Level 3 or 4 in Reading compared to the provincial average of 86%.
  • 87% of the students in the Junior Division achieved Level 3 or 4 in Writing compared to the provincial average of 85%.
  • 53% of the students in the Junior Division achieved Level 3 or 4 in Mathematics compared to the provincial average of 52%.

The Board's Chief Executive Officer, Karen Tigani said, "Our educators are guided by ambitious strategic priorities in mathematics and literacy. Achieving strong results is driven by incredible efforts to ensure board-wide consistency, focus and fidelity. The year over year improvements we experience are the result of ongoing commitment and collaboration among our leadership and staff. Our collective success is driven by professional learning and practices designed to support the achievement of all students. We are committed to working hard to ensure continued excellence and ongoing learning. I am grateful to the Board of Trustees for their support and to our educators for ensuring they strategically leverage time and resources to ensure students have what they need to achieve their full potential. I acknowledge and appreciate the support of our parents, caregivers, and community partners who put their faith in us and support our efforts".
