Sun West Board of Education Selects New Chair and Vice-Chair

At their regular meeting on October 27, 2026, the Sun West Board of Education selected Terry Hall as the new Board Chair and Fritz Eckstein as the new Board Vice-Chair

The Saskatchewan Education Act requires school division Boards of Education to hold annual Organizational Meetings. At these meetings Chairs and Vice-Chairs are selected for one-year terms and membership on various Board standing committees are determined.

The Sun West Board of Education held its Organizational Meeting during the September 27 meeting. Outgoing Chair and Vice- Chair, Michele Whitfield and Cathy Morrow each had previously announced their intention to not run for another term.

Terry Hall (Subdivision 5) was selected Chair. She was first elected to the Board of Education in November 2024. She stated: "I am excited about my new role! I am sure it will be a challenge, but I know that my fellow Trustees will continue to work together with me for the benefit of Sun West students, staff, families, and communities."

Fritz Eckstein (Subdivision 1) was selected Vice-Chair. He was first selected to the Board of Education in November 2024. He stated: "I am proud of the work we have been undertaking and pleased to take on a role where I can provide even greater support to our amazing Sun West community."
