Prayer Garden Taking Shape at Bishop Ryan Catholic Secondary School

November 6, 2026
The vision of a school prayer garden is beginning to take shape at Bishop Ryan Catholic Secondary School. With the first plantings and the installation of a statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary, this special space is becoming a visible reminder of the school's Catholic faith and identity.

The statue holds special significance for the school community, as it was blessed during the end-of-year Marian Mass in June 2026. Following modifications to provide the statue with a solid concrete base, ensuring its stability and strength, it is now ready to take its place in the garden.

The next stage of the project began this fall. Just last week, on a beautiful fall day, members of the Bishop Ryan Chaplaincy Team headed outdoors, equipped with rakes, shovels and gloves, to begin preparing the garden. Students worked together to clear away weeds and debris, helping transform the space into a welcoming place of prayer and reflection.

Located on the northeast side of the school, facing Rymal Road, the triangular garden will continue to take shape over the coming weeks and months, with decorative stones outlining its perimeter. More than just a garden, this space will serve as a place of prayer and reflection for students, staff and visitors. With Mary watching over the school community, neighbouring homes and those travelling along Rymal Road, the garden invites all who pass by to pause and reflect on her example of faith, love and trust in God.

May this garden continue to grow as a symbol of faith, hope and the presence of Mary in the life of the Bishop Ryan community.
