Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) is pleased to announce that law professor David Sandomierski will serve as a Visiting Scholar at the Lincoln Alexander School of Law from January 1 to December 31, 2026.

Sandomierski joined the Lincoln Alexander Law community in the fall as a visiting professor from Western University. At TMU, he co-taught a course based on his research on the architect of law schools in collaboration with TMU's Department of Architectural Science.
The Law and Architecture course invited students to contemplate the relationship between the law school's mission, justice and architecture. Students from both disciplines proposed designs for the Lincoln Alexander School of Law's new building at 277 Victoria St., located in the heart of Toronto.
As a Visiting Scholar, Sandomierski will continue his interdisciplinary research project on the architecture of law schools, including co-hosting informal project-related conversations. He will also contribute to campus life through workshops, facilitated discussions and other collaborative activities with students, faculty and partners across the university.
Sandomierski is an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Law at Western University, a Teaching Fellow at Western University's Centre for Teaching and Learning and a Senior Fellow at Massey College. He holds an SJD from the University of Toronto, where his doctoral dissertation received the Governor General's Academic Gold Medal, as well as civil and common law degrees from McGill University, where he served as Editor-in-Chief of the McGill Law Journal. From 2008-09, he served as a law clerk to The Right Honourable Beverley McLachlin, then Chief Justice of Canada.
Sandomierski is the author of Aspiration and Reality in Legal Education, which examines the relationship between realism and formalism, and between theory and practice, in contemporary legal education. His research focuses on the role that law schools play in cultivating critical and engaged citizens.
