Interchange Recycling has announced the recipients of its annual Tomorrow Grant program, which sees scholarships awarded to two British Columbia post-secondary students pursuing careers in environmental stewardship and skilled trades.
Launched in 2025, the program awards two $2,500 scholarships as part of Interchange Recycling's continued investment in students whose studies and training connect to environmental stewardship and responsible industry practices across BC and the Yukon. This year's recipients are Joseph Rahmani of Vancouver, an incoming student in the Master of Food and Resource Economics (MFRE) program at the University of British Columbia (UBC), and Yuvraj Purba of Delta, who is entering the Heavy Duty Mechanic program at the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT).
"Environmental leadership isn't something the next generation will inherit; it's already showing up in how they live their lives right now," said Jenn Robson, Director of Operations at Interchange Recycling. "The Tomorrow Grant allows us to back students who are building their careers around work that will drive real, lasting impact, and we're proud to support them in that commitment."
"Throughout my studies, Interchange Recycling always stood out to me as a true example of a company taking research and findings and using them to drive change," said Joseph Rahmani. "I want to apply my skills to pushing for corporate responsibility when it comes to environmental claims, and The Tomorrow Grant will be a direct investment in that work," adds Joseph.
"I've learnt that a big part of working in the automotive industry is managing and reducing waste, which is why the work Interchange Recycling does is so important to me," said Yuvraj Purba. "This grant allows me to focus completely on my training, so I can become the green-minded mechanic I hope to be," adds Yuvraj.
The grant provides practical, financial support to help recipients focus on their studies and long-term career goals. By investing in students today, Interchange Recycling reinforces its dedication to engaging and inspiring youth, while promoting responsible recycling practices throughout B.C. and the Yukon.
Interchange Recycling acknowledges that its head office in Victoria is located on the traditional territory of the Songhees and Esquimalt First Nations and the Coast Salish people.
