The provincial government and the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Local 2745, which represents school support staff, have signed a new collective agreement.

The union's membership of about 6,400 employees includes school and district administrative assistants, education assistants, school intervention workers and school library workers employed in school districts across the province.
"More than a year after reaching a tentative agreement, I am so pleased that we could finally come together and sign a new collective agreement," said Finance and Treasury Board Minister René Legacy. "I want to thank the teams on both sides who worked diligently on this new deal - an important milestone for these hard-working employees in our education sector."
The agreement includes a general wage increase of $5 per hour over four years, retroactive to Feb. 28, 2023. Employees will receive hourly wage increases of $1.10 in the first year, $1.10 in the second year, $1.30 in the third year and $1.60 in the fourth year.
All collective agreements with the provincial government are available online.
