Government of Saskatchewan Celebrates the Grand Opening of Francophone Elementary School in Regina

March 23, 2026

The Government of Saskatchewan, in collaboration with the Conseil des écoles fransaskoises (CÉF), is proud to announce the official inauguration of a new Francophone Kindergarten to Grade 6 school, école du Parc, in North Regina. This modern facility reflects the province's commitment to providing quality education for Francophone students.

"This new school is a testament to our commitment to supporting Francophone education in Saskatchewan," Education Minister Everett Hindley said. "It demonstrates the province's dedication to ensuring Francophone students have access to a safe and welcoming environment that allows them to learn and grow in French."

The $26.9 million project is designed to accommodate 325 students, features a 51-space child care centre and includes a shared Francophone community space. The Government of Saskatchewan contributed $22.2 million, while the Government of Canada provided $4.7 million to fund the community space.

"Today marks an exciting milestone for education in our province," SaskBuilds and Procurement Minister Sean Wilson said. "The opening of this new CÉF elementary school reflects our shared commitment to creating welcoming, modern learning spaces for students. We are proud to support a project that provides Fransaskois students with an updated facility that will help them learn and grow for years to come."

"Today, with the official opening of école du Parc, we are reaching a major milestone in the history of Fransaskois education," CSF President Geneviéve Binette said. "École du Parc is the first of our neighborhood schools, established at the very heart of a community where many Fransaskois families live. It brings to life our vision of an accessible school, rooted in its environment and deeply connected to its community. It embodies the vitality, pride and success of the Fransaskois community, as the school is not only a place of learning - it is the beating heart of the community and a key pillar of its long-term sustainability."

"A quality educational environment is essential for the development of Francophone minority communities across the country," Federal Minister of Canadian Identity and Culture and Minister Responsible for Official Languages Marc Miller said. "We are proud to support the construction of this new community infrastructure in Regina, which will make it possible to better meet the needs of Fransaskois youth and provide them with an environment where they can grow, learn and thrive in French."

This new school, école du Parc, replaces a temporary facility opened in 2018 to address rising enrolment. Construction began in June 2023 and was completed in December 2024. Plans for additional Francophone schools in Saskatoon and Prince Albert are currently under development.
