Northwestern Polytechnic (NWP) is adding even more programming to its growing portfolio of offerings in an effort to prepare tomorrow's business leaders with the skills and acumen to succeed.
Beginning in Fall 2024, NWP will launch a two-year Office Management Diploma that will provide students with the necessary computer, administrative, and communication skills to succeed in a dynamic office environment. Throughout the diploma program, students will hone their professionalism, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills to create and manage solutions in real-world offices. They will have the opportunity to integrate emerging technologies with office procedures, project administration, and event planning.
"This new diploma is especially exciting because it opens the door for office professionals to take the next step in their career," says Dr. Carly McLeod, Acting NWP Provost and Vice President Academic. "It goes beyond office fundamentals and introduces students to the foundational business and leadership concepts that will unlock supervisory and managerial roles. With the work integrated learning component, this is another great example of how NWP is providing Programs that Work."
In addition to completing core office and business courses, students will have the opportunity to customize their Office Management Diploma based on their interests and career goals, with electives in the areas of Office Marketing, Human Resources Administration, Legal Office Administration, and Bookkeeping.
"Business and office administration staff are the backbone of any efficient and productive office environment, and a strong, knowledgeable office manager is integral to success," says Dr. Jodi Peebles, Acting Dean, School of Business. "Our new Office Management Diploma gives both new students, and those who have taken the Office Professional Certificate, the opportunity to continue their education and equip themselves with the skills and knowledge to further their career."
The Office Management Diploma builds on the curriculum of the Office Professional Certificate and adds an additional year of enhanced programming. This means current certificate program students now will have the opportunity to broaden their qualification by laddering into the Office Management Diploma next fall.
"The new diploma program will be formally added to NWP's offerings in Fall 2024. However, those interested, can start the online Office Professional Certificate program in January 2024 and be ready to complete their second year once the diploma officially begins," explains Peebles.
