HOLLAND COLLEGE
Holland Launches FITTskills International Trade Training

June 16, 2025

Holland College has announced a new partnership with the Forum for International Trade Training (FITT) to deliver training to help Island businesses and entrepreneurs manage the complexities of international trade.

As a FITTskills Delivery Partner, Holland College will begin offering six industry-recognized courses to assist business owners in navigating the challenges associated with international export development.

The courses include:

  • Feasibility of International Trade
  • Products and Services for a Global Market
  • International Market Entry Strategies
  • International Sales and Marketing
  • Global Value Chain
  • International Trade Finance

The training will help Island businesses maintain a competitive edge, says Holland College President and CEO, Alexander (Sandy) MacDonald.

"Now, more than ever, it's essential that Island businesses are prepared to compete internationally. Our partnership with FITT ensures that we're providing Islanders with the necessary training to grow their businesses, expand into new markets, and ultimately support the growth of our Island economy."

Each course will be delivered through two days of in-person instruction, followed by a 30-day self-study period ending with the online FITT assessment.

Participants who successfully complete three courses will earn a FITT Certificate in International Trade. Those who complete all six courses will earn a FITT Diploma in International Trade, which opens the path towards the Certified International Trade Professional (CITP®|FIBP®) designation.

As part of the provincial strategy to address global trade uncertainty, the Province of Prince Edward Island is contributing financial support to help offset costs for participants.

"Making these courses accessible locally is a necessary step in supporting Island entrepreneurs amid these uncertain economic times. This joint initiative reinforces the fundamental role of collaboration in delivering impactful training that is aligned with the needs of businesses in PEI," said Jenn Redmond, Minister of Workforce, Advanced Learning and Population and the Minister responsible for the Status of Women.

The FITTskills international business program and the CITP®|FIBP® professional certification are endorsed by the Canadian government, with Export Development Canada (EDC) as the national partner for all FITT training.
