CHANGING THE WORLD THROUGH ART
Cambrian College and Holy Trinity students join hands for art project

April 1, 2026

"If you could change the world, what would you do?" That is the question college and kindergarten art students are answering in a joint art project at Cambrian College.

Second-year Design and Visual Arts students have been paired with kindergarten students at Holy Trinity Catholic Elementary School. Together they are using art to depict what they would like to change in the world.

Under the guidance of the college students, the kindergarten students created their own works of art.

The college students are taking those pieces to create their own art on the same theme.

All the art will be displayed as part of Cambrian's Creative Arts Expo next month.

"It is always so much fun, and inspirational, to have the kindergarten students spend a day with our students, creating art together and discussing how to make the world a better place," explains Johanna Westby, a professor in Cambrian's School of Creative Industries. "There is incredible optimism that comes out through the artwork, and it means so much for the kindergarten students and our students to display their art together."

The Creative Arts Expo is being held April 23, from 6 to 9 p.m. in various locations throughout Cambrian's Barry Downe campus. The event features the work of students in various Cambrian programs, including animation, graphic design, media communications, and visual arts.
