Volleyball Coach of the Year Honours for Cambrian College's Dale Beausoleil

Dale Beausoleil, coach of the Cambrian College Golden Shield Men's and Women's volleyball teams, has been selected men's and women's Volleyball Coach of the Year by the Ontario College Athletic Association.

It's a clean sweep for Cambrian College men's and women's Golden Shield volleyball coach Dale Beausoleil.

He has been named the Ontario College Athletic Association (OCAA) Women's and Men's Volleyball Coach of the Year, as well as the OCAA West Division Women's and Men's Coach of the Year.

"I'm shocked and humbled," says Coach Beausoleil. "To be recognized like this by my coaching peers is truly an honour and quite unexpected."

Beausoleil, the long-time, stalwart coach of the women's team, led that squad to a 7-2 record this year.

This year, he assumed the head coaching position for the men's team as well. He guided it to a remarkable turnaround season of 4-5, in the process breaking a previous winless drought of 18 straight games over the previous two years.

"Dale has been a force for the Cambrian Shield for years and has really taken Cambrian Athletics to the next level," said Tim Yu, Manager of Athletics at Cambrian College. "To lead two teams at this level and achieving success with both shows not only dedication but a level of coaching that is hard to find, not just in Ontario but across the country. We're lucky to have Dale on our team here in Sudbury."

For his success this year, Beausoleil has been named the OCAA nominee for the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association's men's and women's volleyball Coach of the Year.

Those winners will be announced during national championships at the end of this week.
