COLLÈGE LA CITÉ
La Cité reaffirms its role as a hub for research and innovation

March 30, 2026

Over the past few days, Collège La Cité brought together researchers, students, partners, and experts for the second edition of Research and Innovation Week. For four days, the college became a true hub of ideas, highlighting tangible advancements and strategic exchanges in key sectors such as artificial intelligence, biotechnology, social innovation, and immersive technologies.

In fact, every year, more than 90 applied research projects and services are carried out at Collège La Cité. Involving nearly 100 students' contracts, directly contributing to the development of concrete solutions in collaboration with partner organizations.

Among the highlights of this week, director and coordinator Luc Sirois captivated the audience by offering a behind-the-scenes look at augmented reality in television, providing a unique perspective on the transformations underway in the media industry.

The panel discussion on artificial intelligence and defence also left a lasting impression. Bringing together experts from the field, this discussion helped strategically position Collège La Cité at the heart of Canada's innovation ecosystem, while highlighting key issues and trends for the sector's future.

Beyond the conferences, the week buzzed with dynamic and participatory activities. Drone and coding competitions created an atmosphere that was both competitive and stimulating, showcasing the talent of the next generation. Other initiatives, such as the "Pathway to Neurodiversity" and presentation tables on in vitro plant culture, fostered knowledge sharing across various fields, demonstrating the richness and diversity of expertise at the College.

"This week highlights Collège La Cité's ability to innovate, bring people together, and advance issues that directly affect our society. It also demonstrates the strength of our partnerships and the commitment of our community," said Marc-Antoine Benglia, director of InnovaCité, Collège La Cité's hub for applied research and innovation.

Alongside this week's activities, Biotechnology Day, returned for its 12th edition. This event brought together key members of the academic and industrial communities to explore advances in biomaterials, tissue engineering, and bioengineering from research-driven entrepreneurship to innovations in stem cells and tissue imaging. Participants gained direct access to the ideas and expertise already shaping the next generation of healthcare solutions.

Building on this success, the College is already inviting the community to join us for Research and Innovation Week in 2027.
