Mountaineers capture three OCAA marketing awards

The Mohawk Mountaineers Department of Athletics and Recreation was recognized for its storytelling, event execution and promotional excellence after capturing three of seven Ontario Colleges Athletic Association marketing awards for the 2025-26 season.

Mohawk earned Championship of the Year for its hosting of the 2026 OCAA Women's Basketball Championship, Feature Video of the Year for its 2027 CCAA Men's Basketball National Championship bid video, and Promo Video of the Year for its men's basketball national championship hype video.

The Championship of the Year honour reflected a department-wide effort led by tournament committee members Matthew FerreiraAshley MamoneSatbir SinghBrittany GalanChris McCollTayo Smith and Brayden Swire, along with support from many additional staff and volunteers.

The championship also featured live-stream production support from students and staff in Mohawk's Broadcasting - Television and Communications Media program, helping deliver a high-quality experience for fans, teams and partners throughout the event.

Mohawk's award-winning feature video was directed by Singh and produced by Smith, with narration provided by Joe Raso. The video played a key role in the Mountaineers' successful bid to host the 2027 CCAA Men's Basketball National Championship.

Smith also produced Mohawk's Promo Video of the Year, which helped build excitement ahead of the Mountaineers men's basketball team competing at the 2026 CCAA Men's Basketball National Championship in Nanaimo, B.C.

The 2025-26 season marked the first year the OCAA presented seven marketing awards, with Mohawk leading all institutions with three award wins.
