The Board of Education of School District 69 (Qualicum) is pleased to announce the following administrative appointments:
Tour Operator/Recreational Guide - Ms. Ginny Heming
Ms. Heming will be filling this newly created position providing transportation and experiential learning services to students through our highly regarded International Student Program, as well as, our Global Rivers, Oceans and Mountains School (ROAMS).
Ms. Heming comes to our District with twenty years' worth of service in the outdoor recreation industry as a guide and educator where her duties included designing, implementing and delivering quality outdoor educational experiences for children, youth and adults. Most recently, Ms. Heming worked for The Adventure Group (TAG) based out of Whistler, BC, where she played host and driver to a wide variety of both domestic and international adventure-seekers. She has a Bachelor of Education Degree along with a fourteen month Outdoor and Experiential Learning credential from Queen's University in Ontario.
Health & Wellness Coordinator - Ms. Anna Phillips
Ms. Phillips has been hired to another newly created position in our District. This position was funded through monies provided to school districts by the BC Ministry of Education to implement Health and Wellness Programs for their employees. Her role, as part of our Human Resources Department, will be to determine appropriate accommodations, participate in disability management and Workers' Compensation case management, and assist employees and their supervisors with attendance support programs or return to work programs.
A native of Qualicum Beach and a Kwalikum Secondary Graduate, Ms. Phillips brings a wealth of experience in workplace health and wellbeing gained through her time working in similar positions with the Plymouth City Council in England following her graduation from the University of Victoria.
Director of Human Resources - Ms. Brenda Paul
Ms. Paul will be joining us from the Sea to Sky School District (#48) to fill the vacancy created by the retirement of Ms. JoAnne Shepherd. A Chartered Human Resources Professional, Ms. Paul brings over twenty years of Human Resources and Labour Relations experience with the last eight in the public education sector here in BC. She received her Human Resources Graduate Certification through MBA level coursework at Royal Roads University in Victoria and has strong Island connections through her previous private sector Human Resources work with Coastal Community Credit Union and Evergreen Savings Credit Union.
