STAR Catholic School Division is pleased to recognize Mr. David Murphy of Christ the King School as this year's Excellence in Catholic Education Award recipient, a distinction that honors educators who demonstrate outstanding faith-filled teaching and leadership.
David is a valued member of the Christ the King School community, teaching Math and Physics across senior high grade levels and intentionally choosing Grade 9 Math and Forensic Science to build strong connections with learners at all stages of their academic journeys. His deep content knowledge, coupled with genuine care and personal investment in each student, has made a lasting impact in classrooms and beyond.
In addition to his instructional work, David lives out his faith through active involvement in the life of the school and parish. He shares his musical gifts in choir and music ministry, supports the school's Rosary Club, and contributes to student leadership opportunities that cultivate a school culture grounded in service, prayer, and community. He is also committed to professional and spiritual growth through his participation in the EXCEL cohort and collaboration with colleagues across the division.
Reflecting on his vocation, David says:
"I feel incredibly blessed to serve at Christ the King School, where faith and learning are always intertwined. Being able to pray with my classes and grow together in our faith is such a rewarding part of the work I get to do.
Each day, I am grateful for the opportunity to walk alongside my students and be a part of their learning journey. Getting to know these remarkable young people, reminding them that they are deeply cared for, and helping guide them toward God's love is truly my calling."
