During the June 24, 2025 meeting of the Board, the District School Board Ontario North East (DSB1) Trustees approved a budget in the amount of $162,904,426 for the 2025-2026 school year.
The approved budget is balanced and compliant with Ministry of Education requirements and includes:
- Operating expenditures of $162,894,070
- Capital expenditures of $18,877,078 allocated to school condition improvements and renewal projects.
The total staffing complement approved for the school year is 1,105.7 Full Time Equivalents (FTE).
The Chair of the Board, Cindy Pye-Reasbeck, expressed her satisfaction with the budget process and approval, stating, "DSB1 Trustees are pleased to approve this balanced budget that supports students, in line with our 2025-2029 Strategic Plan. On behalf of the Board, I would like to thank Director Dye and Administrative Council for their hard work in bringing us a balanced budget."
The DSB1 budget process began earlier this year by engaging the community, preparing projections and reviewing the Core Education Funding formula. The Trustees had the opportunity to review the budget in details prior to the June 24 Board Meeting. This process demonstrates the connections between the budget and the implementation of the DSB1 Strategic Plan.
