Peel District School Board (PDSB) is proud to celebrate Education Week from May 4 to 8, 2026, embracing this year's theme, "Our Stories in Action." The week serves as an opportunity to recognize the vital role public education plays in shaping inclusive, innovative and thriving communities across Peel.
Throughout the week, PDSB will showcase the voices and experiences of students, staff and community members whose contributions reflect the strength and diversity of public education. From student achievements and creative expression to stories of leadership and collaboration, these moments will be shared across the board's social media channels. The community is invited to follow @PeelSchools and join the conversation using #OurStoriesinAction and #PDSBEduWeek on X (Twitter), Instagram, and Facebook.
A key highlight of Education Week is the recognition of individuals across Peel who make a meaningful difference in schools, worksites and the broader community. This year, 1,428 staff, students, volunteers and community members will be honoured with the Award of Distinction for their outstanding contributions.
In addition, 36 recipients will be celebrated at the Celebration of Excellence event, receiving the board's highest honour, the Award of Excellence, for their exceptional impact in one of five categories:
- Excellence in Community of Care
- Excellence in Innovation in Education
- Excellence in Sustainability in Education
- Excellence in Equity in Education
- Excellence in Education
"Education Week is our opportunity to bring everyday actions to life through compelling stories that highlight, in a very real way, how students, staff and community members shape learning and well-being every single day," said Rashmi Swarup, Director of Education. "Stories matter. They have the power to move people, to inspire and remind us why this work is so important. When we share these experiences, we affirm our commitment to creating opportunities that give every student the chance to grow into who they're meant to be."
Artwork, performances and achievements by students, staff and community members will also be featured throughout the week, highlighting the creativity, talent and collaboration that define PDSB schools.
Education Week offers a moment to recognize the collective efforts that strengthen public education and to celebrate the stories that continue to shape its future.
