We are proud to officially launch the first year of The Kidder Pascal Awards for Systems Change and Innovation in Education.
The awards are named in honour of two extraordinary champions of public education: Annie Kidder, People for Education's founding Executive Director, and the late Charles Pascal, lifelong advocate for education and public service. Together, their leadership shaped a vision of public education as essential for a thriving, just, and resilient Canada.
Two distinct awards make up the Kidder-Pascal Awards for Systems Change and Innovation in Education:
- The Systems Change Award
- The Promise in Practice Award
Together, these awards honour the legacy of Annie Kidder and Charles Pascal by recognizing those who are building the future of public education through systemic transformation and the innovative local practices and leadership that make it possible.
We are now inviting nominations from across the country for The Promise in Practice Award, which recognizes an individual, program, initiative, or organization working with publicly funded schools in Canada that exemplifies the transformative potential of public education, particularly in relation to one or more of The Education Promise policy areas.
Nominations are now open and close April 17.
We will celebrate this year's honourees at an awards breakfast in Toronto in early June. Tickets will be available for purchase soon. Stay tuned for more details, and we hope you'll join us.
