It is with great pleasure that we are launching the fourth edition of the Indigenous Languages Valorization Award, at the Université de Montréal (UdeM). This prize, which was awarded for the first time in June 2020, was proposed as a result of a collaboration between UdeM's Kwé Kwé Indigenous employee Committee and the University administration.
The Indigenous Languages Valorization Award seeks to recognize the efforts and engagement of individuals who have contributed to the preservation and to promotion of their Indigenous language. Through their actions, these individuals are contributing to the preservation of culture by ensuring that their traditions and knowledge can continue to thrive.
At present, we invite you to nominate Indigenous candidates to be awarded the prize. Proposals can be submitted via this online form. The deadline to nominate someone is April 4, 2024.
Please note that all applications will be evaluated by a selection committee composed of indigenous members from staff and students. The 2024 award ceremony will take place next June. For all questions related to this call for nominations, please contact Andrée Labrie, the diversity coordinator at UdeM.
