HURON PERTH CATHOLIC DISTRICT SCHOOL BOARD
Huron-Perth Catholic District School Board Welcomes a New Bishop

April 27, 2026

The Huron-Perth Catholic District School Board (HPCDSB) joins the faithful across the Diocese of London in celebrating the announcement by His Holiness, Pope Leo XIV, regarding the appointment of the Most Rev. Daniel Miehm as the 11th Bishop of the Diocese of London.

Bishop-designate Miehm, who has served as the Bishop of the Diocese of Peterborough since 2017, brings a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to Catholic education. Notably, he currently chairs the Education Commission for the Assembly of Catholic Bishops of Ontario (ACBO) and serves as the bishop liaison to the Ontario Catholic School Trustees' Association (OCSTA). His background as a "good shepherd" and compassionate leader aligns with the mission of our Catholic school board community.

"We are excited and honoured to welcome newly appointed Reverend Bishop Daniel Miehm to Huron-Perth in his new role. We extend heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to Bishop Fabbro for his faith filled presence, guidance and support of Catholic education that has blessed our system during his tenure. We wish him an abundance of peace, joy and good health in his retirement".
Mary Helen Van Loon, Chair of the Board

As we prepare for this new chapter in our Diocese, the Huron-Perth Catholic DSB extends its profound gratitude to Most Rev. Bishop Ronald Fabbro for his 24 years of dedicated service as the Bishop of London. Since 2002, Bishop Fabbro has been a steadfast advocate for our schools, providing incredible leadership and spiritual guidance to students, staff, and families throughout Huron and Perth counties.

His commitment to the growth and sanctity of Catholic education has left an indelible mark on our district. We wish Bishop Fabbro a peaceful and healthy retirement as he transitions to his new role as Bishop Emeritus.

"We are beneficiaries of the deep commitment, unconditional love, and unwavering vocation of Bishop Fabbro as he shepherded our Catholic school board over the past many years. We have been strengthened and supported by his prayers, accompaniment and wisdom. We express our gratitude and ongoing prayers for Bishop Fabbro throughout this transition and during his well-earned retirement. We look forward to welcoming Bishop-designate Miehm and give thanks for the opportunity to learn and grow under his leadership".
Karen Tigani, Director of Education

Until the formal installation of Bishop-designate Miehm, Bishop Fabbro will serve as the Apostolic Administrator of the Diocese. The Huron-Perth Catholic District School Board invites our entire community to join us in prayer for Bishop-designate Miehm as he prepares to lead our local Churches, and for Bishop Fabbro as he concludes his historic tenure.
