Abbotsford School District Recognized with Three Inclusive Employer Excellence Award Nominations

The Abbotsford School District has been recognized with three nominations at the 2026 Inclusive Employer Excellence Awards, celebrating our ongoing commitment to creating an inclusive and supportive workplace for people of all abilities. 

The district was nominated in three categories: 

• Outstanding Commitment to Inclusive Hiring 
• Creative Workplace Accommodations 
• Community Champion for Inclusive Employment 

The annual Inclusive Employer Excellence Awards recognize employers in Abbotsford and Mission that are going above and beyond to create inclusive workplaces for people with disabilities. The awards celebrate organizations that demonstrate leadership in areas such as inclusive hiring, workplace accommodations, employee support and advocacy. 

The three nominations reflect different aspects of the district's approach to building an inclusive workforce. The Outstanding Commitment to Inclusive Hiring category recognizes employers that demonstrate an ongoing commitment to inclusive recruitment, hiring and employee support. Creative Workplace Accommodations recognizes organizations that show flexibility and creativity in adapting work environments and roles to meet employees' needs, while Community Champion for Inclusive Employment recognizes leadership and advocacy that helps advance inclusive employment both within an organization and across the community. 

This year's recognition builds on the district's previous success at the awards. In 2023, the Abbotsford School District received the Outstanding Commitment to Inclusive Hiring award for its efforts to create meaningful employment opportunities and support employees with diverse abilities. 

The Inclusive Employer Excellence Awards are organized by community partners Archway Community Services, Bethesda, Communitas Supportive Care Society, Mission Association for Community Living and WorkBC Abbotsford/Mission. Together, the organizations work to connect people with disabilities with meaningful employment while supporting employers in building more inclusive workplaces.
