Seven College of the Rockies Trades students showcased their talents at the Skills Canada BC Provincial competition held April 16 in Abbotsford. Competing in welding, electrical, carpentry, and heavy vehicle equipment technology competitions, the students represented the College with professionalism and skill.

Skills Canada - BC Chapter is the province's leading not-for-profit organization promoting careers in trades and technology. Its annual competitions give students a platform to demonstrate their abilities, while engaging visiting students in hands-on try-a-trade activities and career exploration.
College of the Rockies students qualified for the provincial competition after strong performances at the regional level in March. The provincial team included:
- Welding: Carter Thistle, Eli Volp
- Electrical: Georgia Jones, Aiden Morrison
- Carpentry: Megan Downie
- Heavy Vehicle Equipment Technology: Cody Pearson, Malcolm Phelps
All participants performed admirably, with Cody Pearson earning a silver medal in the Heavy Equipment Technology category - a notable achievement for both him and the College's program.
"All of our students represented the College with professionalism and skill -- a testament to the quality of our programs and the dedication of our instructors," said Ranjan Bhattacharya, Dean, Trades and Technology. "Their participation enhances their resumes and prepares them for successful careers in the skilled trades. Congratulations to Cody and to all our competitors."
